lol I'm glad they pointed out where Washington is.
I registered through the mail as a high schooler. I don't think I'd do it through an app but whatever gets people registered. Now let's just hope they will also vote. Just not for McKenna or Hadian thank you.
Being a Washington native, you would not believe how many people are goddamn idiots when it comes to where the state is located. I have specifically stated "Washington state" and had people still think I meant D.C.
I've also had the "state? where's that?" question a not insignificant number of times. -_-
My biggest pet peeve of going to college in Virginia, tbh. I NEVER used to say "Washington STATE" before then. I feel it shouldn't be necessary. Then again, I shouldn't have to correct pronunciation for Oregon either, but there it is.
Goddess bless, yes. My housemate is continually pronouncing it "or-eh-GONE" and I'm like, "DUDE WTF?" (Upon first moving out thisaway, sure. He'd barely been out of Mass most of his life. After being here for four years? Fucking hell.)
I also really love that they are doing pretty much everything by mail-in paper ballots. (Unsure if this includes the presidential election since we were back east in Nov 2008 but I believe it does.) Getting an absentee ballot isn't exactly easy in many states, and actually getting to the polling center has been difficult for me with my physical disability and social anxiety.
Plus I know a buncha people who say they vote because they don't have to make any effort except fill it out and stick it back in the mail. Which is sad but if it gets people voting, I'm all for it.
Yep, presidential, too. I voted by mail-in ballot in 2008.
And I totally feel you about going to the polls. I never, ever have. My anxiety usually stands like a wall between me and even the least complex social functions.
I miss going to the neighbourhood precincts to vote. I miss getting that "I Voted" sticker. I do the next best thing and save on postage. I go to the county elections office where they still have the little old ladies and men volunteering to take your mail-in ballots. AND, you still can get a sticker. :D
