I would support a White History Month if it went something like this:

Day 1: Christopher Columbus' genocide
Day 2: the treatment of African-American slaves at the hands of whites
Day 3: Jim Crow
Day 4: the KKK and White Citizens Council (and how they overlapped)
Day 5: the colonization of Africa
Day 6: White people/countries at the root of several African civil wars (e.g. Rwandan genocide)
Day 7: apartheid
Day 8: the anti-Obama birther movement
Day 9: Haiti's independence debt
...
All the way to Day 31. Basically all the stuff that is never taught in school. We might have to double or triple up on each day in order to fit everything in.

I loved my host teacher when I was student teaching because I got away with teaching a lot of this in my Africa unit. These were 7th graders who didn't even know Thomas Jefferson owned slaves. I almost mentioned Sally Hemmings, but their minds were already overloading.

I was laughing at this part because I knew they were going to say this. If they were an Italian American group doing this, no one would care even though those people would be white. It is the fact that you are a violent, racist group that terrorizes people.
