The New Right-Wing Meme - Obama Is Gay (AUDIO)
In the eyes of homophobic America, it’s impossible to support the rights of the LGBT community without actually being gay. So, of course, the moment President Obama declared that he believed that LGBT Americans should have the right to marry, the internet and tabloids lit up with rumors of gay scandals. This article quotes a story from the tabloid, The Globe and adds this paragraph to add the appropriate amount of credibility:
Let’s see, Barack Obama. Not that manly. Admits he used coke. Married to mannish wife with big, muscular arms (although in all fairness, she does have a nice behind). Could he have done coke and had gay sex with an ex-con Larry Sinclair? It doesn’t seem completely implausible. Still, in all fairness, without any further evidence and with just the Globe on the story, it’s hard to give Larry Sinclair’s story too much credence. However, if it does turn out to be true, well then Barack Obama - come on out of the closet, man.
In the same shallow way that Bill Clinton was anointed the first Black President, Newsweek’s Andrew Sullivan claimed Obama was the first Gay President. For the majority of Americans who are unwilling to read beyond the headlines, that single Newsweek cover could be all the proof they need of yet another reason that Obama isn’t “one of us.”
Perhaps most insidious, so far, is from Paul Cameron of the Family Research Council, who said this (emphasis added):
Well, the timing is I think miserable for his reelection. I would have expected him, as you did, to wait until he was the new president and say, “Guess what? I’ve changed my mind,” or, “I’ve evolved.” But homosexuality is the one sin, or the one habit, that is 24/7. It is homosexuality all the time. And actually, while I’m not sure about the claims by the various people who have reported that Obama has at least participated at times with them in homosexual acts, this certainly lends some credence.
Mark my words clearly; the long term goal of the homosexual movement is to get every little boy to grab his ankles and every little girl to give it a try. They will not rest until every one of our children at least gets to try, has the opportunity and maybe is forced to at least once experience homosexual acts. There is no retreating from that, they made it very clear earlier on-now they don’t take about it-but that’s what they want, they will not be happy until they get it, marriage is just a step along the way.

The right-wing obsession with the sexuality of children is disgusting at best. The truth, of course, that the only sexual agenda being perpetrated on the American people is the heterosexual agenda. While gay people are simply asking to be treated like full citizens, the homophobic movement is attempting to force the “heterosexual lifestyle” through whatever means necessary, including shame, bullying, conversion therapy, medication and even electro-shock therapy. There has never been a case where a person turned gay from coercion or force (unless they were already there), but there have been millions of cases of gay people being forced to live in secrecy.
Cameron goes on to say that giving women and black people equal rights was a slippery slope:
Cameron later said he “partially agreed” with a caller who said, “they gave blacks equal rights and that was a bad path and now look where we are, if I don’t feel like I want to hire a black man for my business I’m in all sorts of trouble and now it’s going to be some homo who is gonna have to get a job because I can’t do nothing about it.” Cameron claimed the push for LGBT equality “brings into question the civil rights mentality” because it created “special rights on the basis of certain characteristics,” calling gays and lesbians “mentally deranged” and transgender people “people that are really strange.” He went on to compare gays and lesbians to people who have a sexual attraction to “dirty socks” and said “we’re headed to a place where the weirder the people, the more rights they will obtain and the more normal the fewer rights you will have.”
The sexuality of the President should have absolutely zero impact on the way the country views him. It certainly has no impact on the way he does his job, but unfortunately we don’t live in an accepting world. The right believes that gay rumors can be just another nail in the President’s coffin and for some people, they might be right.
