I think it's true if you're talking of the people who voted for Sarkozy. Regarding the FN electorate and given what Marine Le Pen said about the war in Libya (she was against it and in her point of view, the real aim was not to bring democracy but to kill Gaddafi), it's much more complicated.

Thank you, panookah. Something tells me that the the use of $66 million were not limited to the French presidential campaign. Perhaps the deal was related to the Bulgarian nurses affair.

Hm, well. I reckon it's news in the sense that there's now purported proof of questionable dealings that most people figure are going on between notable governments (not just France!) and their questionable allies. But I think most people would already have the sense that -- in this case, ever since the Libyan disarmament commitment back in '03, and the subsequent mad dash among governments (that USED to vilify Gaddafi), tripping over themselves to be friends with Libya -- this otherwise isnt shocking information.

"Western Governments Selectively Cozy Up To Widely Vilified non-Western Regimes Because of Economic/Military/Political/Geopolitical Self-Interest, News @ 11", basically.

Good to know in any case, I guess.

I love how French medias downplay this story, and let's be reel Sarkozy's (racist) electors will not care about this story.

Yes, it's rather telling.

let's be reel Sarkozy's (racist) electors will not care about this story.
Sadly, you're right. They are either rich assholes or they lack of two neurons to rub together.
