Wheels of justice turn slow, but I'm so glad to hear this. Honestly, I think it was the fallout of Katrina more than anything else that shocked me into awareness of just how fucked up our country is and how badly our government is failing us. Of course George Bush -- and his government -- weren't to blame for Katrina happening. Nobody causes natural disasters. But the way it was handled -- the failure to evacuate the city, to respond to the disasters, to help the survivors -- how quick and how savagely people were willing to turn on the victims as criminals who deserved what they got -- really shook my faith in my country.

If our government can't even help our own people on our own soil in the aftermath of a terrible disaster, then what are they good for?

The government could have improved the levees so the results of Katrina weren't so disastrous, not to mention decades of policies encouraging the global warming that leads to hurricanes being more severe

GOOD. Finally got some justice, which is really difficult to do in New Orleans.

Damn.

Good, good, good. The aftermath of Katrina was one long, fucked up, poorly handled nightmare for so many residents - at least some people in power an interest of bringing justice.

I remember reading about this on a rescue worker's blog when it first happened. It was just unreal. Glad to see some justice was finally had.
