I'm just so upset right now. I have been praying for her and her family all night.

I'm a Black Muslim woman with three sons. After Trayvon, Rekia and now this? I'm really thinking about getting out of the USA in the next few years.

shit, i'm white and i want to get out of the USA. i can't imagine how difficult it would be to have the issues i'm frustrated with compounded by the fact that our country gives zero fucks about racism (and that we have legitimate candidates for the presidency who are OPENLY RACIST)

it sucks, and i'm sorry :(

It does and thanks. I hope it gets better here for everyone but I am not holding my breath.

I think it'd be easier for them to go to a more liberal area in the same country tbh. I'm from a small Austrian town and felt so much more at ease when I moved to Cologne, a much much larger and multi-ethnic liberal German city. The fact that I can walk hand in hand with my boyfriend who is a German citizen of Turkish ancestry makes me feel so much better.

I've been looking into which countries I was going to move to eventually when shit here got unbearable, and most of the places I researched in Western Europe were...not better. Like, at all. (Lookin' at you, France and Germany.)

At this point, I'm thinking Brazil. If I'm going to have to live in racist demi-theocracy, I'd at least want to be warm while doing it.

(Incoming cool story bro)
It's really hard, honestly. I really love America, and a lot of the things it represents insofar as multiculturalism goes, to the point that I'm willing to risk a lot to defend it and stick around to try to make things better, you know? The idea means too much to me to let the terrorists win.

At the same time, I want to be able to live long enough to see the America I want my children to grow up in. I don't know if it's better to cut my losses and gtfo while I can, or try to make this country a better place.

I know anti-black racism something I will have to deal with wherever I go to some degree. I can't really escape racism but I can go somewhere that will be easier to can just be Muslim. I'll take that.

I have some research to do before I decide on anywhere but I know a few Black Muslim that have left, my ex-husband is one. I'm going to talk to them first.
