Missouri House Advances Nondiscrimination Protections - For Gun Owners.
The state of Missouri has no laws that protect LGBT people from employment or housing discrimination, but yesterday the Missouri House advanced a new nondiscrimination bill that protects gun owners. Were the law to pass, it would ensure that anyone who legally carries a firearm cannot be fired, denied benefits, or otherwise discriminated against for that choice. Rep. Mike Colona (D), who is openly gay, pointed out that “what this body has done is put protecting gun ownership above discriminating against somebody because of their sexual orientation, and I just don’t think that’s right.”
I'm glad that politicians have taken the bold step of protecting those who are most disenfranchised in our society, the heavily armed.
