A banker left a 1% tip in defiance of 'the 99%' at a Newport Beach restaurant the other week, according to his dining companion and underling who snapped a photo of the receipt and posted it to his blog, Future Ex Banker. (Update: the blog is now offline.)

In posting the photo, the employee gave some background on his boss and the receipt:

I saw this in Tumblr yesterday. I had no idea it was posted by someone with the banker. I thought it was posted by the server. Actually, I had no idea about the whole 1% thing. I just thought he was a run-of-the-mill asshole.

I initially thought the banker himself had posted it. Reading comprehension is not my friend today.

But if all the servers got better jobs, the banker would starve to death.

SERIOUSLY. My grandfather - NOT A MEMBER of the 1%, for the record, but a disabled senior citizen veteran who supports his adult children, grandchildren, and young great-grandchildren, so you think he would be a little more understanding about the plight of people with no damn money - says this shit all the time. Every single time we're like, who the hell is going to serve you dinner at a drive-thru or clean the bathrooms at your church or empty your freaking bedpan after surgery, because if all those "fake jobs" go away then you're screwed.

Or his own fucking employees. He wouldn't be in the 1% if he didn't have those in the 99% managing his paperwork and doing the tasks he's "too good" to do.

Jerk can't do math, either. 1% of $133.54 rounds out to $1.34, not $1.33.

Rounding up would result in a generous extra cent. Can't have that now, can we?

Debatable. You can round 1.3354 either up or down.

UGH. I know people that do crap like this and would still be part of the 99%. They're just jerkwads.

That was my first thought too. "Far more of the 99% would do this, thinking they were the 1% just to be douchetraps."
