World's Youngest Politician (sort of >_>)

Feb 18, 2012 23:38

She’s still only a toddler but this little girl is already making her mark in politics.

Little Vittoria joined her mother, Italian MEP Licia Ronzulli, at the European Parliament in Strasbourg yesterday.

The 18-month-old even raised her hand to vote with her mum, who is a member of the environment, health and food safety commission.

It wasn’t the youngster’s first appearance on the political mainstage.
Mrs Ronzulli, 36, brought her daughter to the European Parliament when she was just six weeks old back in September 2010.

The working mum took advantage of relatively relaxed rules allowing women to take their babies to work by cradling Vittoria in a sling during the debate.

But while Mrs Ronzulli juggled being a mum and an MEP with ease, baby Vittoria was clearly worn out by the lengthy discussions, sleeping throughout the experience.

But the little one was wide awake at yesterday’s sitting, taking an interest in her mother’s Blackberry, wearing a headset and joining the vote.

Politics is clearly in Vittoria’s blood - her father, Renato Cerioli, is also an Italian politician.

He and his wife are both members of Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s People of Freedom Party. (SOB WHY)

Mrs Ronzulli, from the Lombardy region of northern Italy, won her seat in the party at the 2009 elections with 40,000 votes.

She worked as a nurse in Bangladesh and a hospital director before turning to politics.
