Huh. I read a blog post (probably linked to from _p?) just the other day that mentioned the exact same scenes referred to in this piece - Batman and Catwoman having sex on a roof, and Starfire having sex with multiple men. Except in that context it was a feminist rant about how the female characters were reduced to ciphers free of their own agency, existing only as fap fodder for men.

I think someone at Fox read that blog and missed the point entirely.

oh yay, I found the post! Thanks, google.

I agree with the problematic depictions, but the comics aren't for kids! They're problems for adults in an adult medium!

It makes me mad how misogyny is often only a problem where little kids might see it.

I read that blog post a while back, but I'm always happy to read it again because yesssss.

Tangentially related, did you read Film Critic Hulk's posts about Catwoman and the casual use of the word "bitch" in the Arkham Asylum? He did a great job looking at all the casual sexism and misogyny in it.

No, tbh I'm not generally that into comics (I used to be into Marvel stuff, but haven't read anything for years now), so I don't really keep up with criticism.

Yeaahh, it's like they got a little bit of it but... not really everything? And just in general it feels like they don't actually read comics or know the comic community too well.
