What the hell. Sweden, aren't you supposed to be better about these things then America?!
This is awful, I can't even imagine why anyone would think this was ok. D:

...no, I have to say that being better than America has never been a point of consideration when making laws

I can't believe how much power the government gives Kd. I asked a moderate politician how they could justify supporting these policies, and she basically replied that taxes> HBT-people, so they'd continue to let KD oppress anyone they felt like

Exactly. I got into an argument about this very thing like, yeah, maybe The Christian Democrats are in the way, and maybe they do have to show that they have some power because they're at risk to get booted out. BUT if that means a practice that's so horrible as this is is allowed to continue, that says a lot about the values you keep as well. I don't care for the argument: "It's not their opinion! It's CDs!" because they're still supporting it.

Yep, this fucking law is the same in Finland. If you want to change your gender legally, you have to be infertile or sterilized. That's really fucked up. I guess it's because "gender roles", can't have men giving birth or women fathering children, oh the horror, sign of apocalypse etc... Really it's just policing traditional gender roles and what people do with their bodies.

Is that true? I just posted about how good the laws are in Finland - my hubby and I are staying here for his transition, but gods I didn't know about that!

To change legal gender, yes, the law says they have to be "infertile or sterilized".

I started a petition to stop the Finnish government. I know there's one for Sweden, so I figured Finland ought to have one too. The whole thing is so unbelievably sick and wrong.

Going to go try and spread this around now.
