President Obama to recess appoint consumer bureau chief

Jan 04, 2012 11:23

WASHINGTON (CNNMoney) -- In a move that has angered Republicans, President Obama on Wednesday will make a recess appointment of Richard Cordray to be the first director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, sidestepping the Senate confirmation process, a White House official said.

Apparently, according to the CNN Source, President Obama is 'picking' a fight. )

"President Obama, in an unprecedented move, has arrogantly circumvented the American people by 'recess' appointing Richard Cordray as director of the new CFPB," said Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell in a statement.

Pretty sure this American person would like you jackasses in Congress to stop being obstructionist assholes. But I'm not a real American person because I vote Democrat.

Do you know anything about this story? Obama is using a loophole to circumvent another loophole that the Republicans set up to prevent any appointment to this office until Obama agreed to gut the program, even though congress already passed the bill setting the program up.

Well, if Republicans and big banks don't want him appointed, I can only guess that Mr. Corday must be kinda awesome.

He took on AIG and Bank of America while he was Ohio's Attorney General over pension fund fraud and bid rigging.

Oh, and he was a 5 time Jeopardy champion. That's the really important thing.
