Barney Frank: "And there were twelve Republicans who were ready to stand up for the economic interest of America but not if anybody insulted them. I’ll make an offer: Give me those twelve people’s names and I will go talk uncharacteristically nicely to them and tell them what wonderful people they are, and maybe they’ll now think about the country.”
Rahm Emanuel bitches Republicans out, remains sexy while doing so.
Frank points out that the number of butthurt Republicans were just enough to overturn the vote.
Republicans blame Mean Girls for the failure. Eric Cantor sounds like he's going to cry. Wasn't this guy a potential McCain VP?
McCain advisor Douglas "Invented the BlackBerry" Holtz-Eakin does the same thing. David Shuster takes him for a ride rather brilliantly. It's hard not to share his frustration as the Holtz-Eakin runs through every excuse imaginable, even the ones that contradict each other.
Pelosi's OMG EVIL speech. As you can guess, it's not exactly scathing, but apparently she was unaware of how VERY SENSITIVE the Republicans are. Prepared text of her remarks here.
