N.Y.C. Police Maligned Paradegoers on Facebook

They called people “animals” and “savages.” One comment said, “Drop a bomb and wipe them all out.”

Hearing New York police officers speak publicly but candidly about one another and the people they police is rare indeed, especially with their names attached. But for a few days in September, a raw and ( Read more... )

Cue shock and disbelief over (yet another) story proving that racism is just as healthy as it's always been in 3... 2....

Oh come on, it's not really abuse by the police unless white people are the victims, you know that.

Besides, the police are friends, not food foes. My uncle is a cop and he's awesome.

The reactions to the ~shocking police brutality~ from OWS have been so tragic/hilarious to read. On the one hand it's nice that it's about fucking time more people realized that that shit can happen to them too.... on the other hand, it's like "Well fuuuuck if you think that's police brutality... you ain't seen nothin' yet". They're just building up their courage right now. The more they push without any resistance from the top, the worse it's gonna get. And we're all gonna pretend like this is something new.

Yeah, I imagine that people of color are like, "WELCOME TO OUR WORLD FOLKS" right about now.

I wish proof of hate for those they have power over were enough to get someone removed from that position of power. Whether a cop, a teacher, whatever. I work with the public and a big part of my job is dealing equally with everyone whether than person is a homeless, First Nations, immigrant, visibly queer,... If I couldn't do that, even after education, I shouldn't have this job. And an abuse of my power doesn't do anywhere near as much damage as a cop or teacher.

That's not a radical idea, is it?

Let me know when it happens to white people, it's much more tragic then.

I know people act the fool on Labor Day (trust me, I live in East Flatbush and see the yearly trainwreck unfold), but their reactions are defnitely racist.
