I don't really know anything about Bill Maher, is he infamous for famous shit like this? Wikipedia tells me his political views seem alright.

I can't stand Elisabeth but she was entirely correct here.

And isn't he one of the celebrities that doesn't believe in the existence of AIDS?

Wait, what??? Who else doesn't believe in AIDS?!

He's said he's not a germ theory denier but the things he's said really sort of come across like he is, or at least tight up next to it.

His views tend to be leftie but only in the way that any moral person educated about an issue is likely to be. Like health care being a Good Thing that the AMA has fought for decades.

His problem seems to be his being a privileged straight white guy who talks before thinking.

Yeah, and the part where he doesn't think women and children are real people or something like that.

Right, it's more like he doesn't believe he has privilege so his superiority is just how things are.

He's an extremely disrespectful, sexist, and homophobic pos who hides it by voting and supporting liberal political views.

ETA: He's also part of the anti-vax movement iirc.

Do you have a source on the anti-vax thing? Maybe I am mixing him up with someone else, but I was thinking he was a "loud atheist" (or whatever you call it) and I would be surprised to see that overlap with anti-vax. (Which, if true, probably just means he enjoys stirring shit rather than applying scientific thinking or whatever. So I wouldn't be horribly surprised.)

There are a bunch of other sources found with googling too. He's also got a lot of stupid opinions on cancer to iirc.

Ugh. Well, any prestige he had in my mind before is now just dismissed as Another Asshole Who Needs To Cause Trouble. Thanks for the link =)

UGH. Those anti-vax people are about to get on my last nerve. There is a frigging whooping cough EPIDEMIC going on my county right now, thanks to people not vaccinating their kids for pertussis.

Grrrr. Just GRRRRRR.

ETA: I couldn't even watch all of that video. Just too pissed off.
