I could understand it had she been murdered but a drug OD? Really? It's such an obvious excuse.

Using that poor woman's death as a political move is low.

I thought the article would say she had been murdered--they're clearly looking for ANY excuse. Ugh.

This is a classic case of "one thing is not like the other". Using this woman's death as an excuse to nix this protest is a dick move.

If the need to remove the protest is so urgent, why not just listen to them and make some changes? Oh, wait, that would be the logical thing to do.

On a side note, the topic of overdosing is near to my heart and it breaks me into pieces when I read about yet another death due to overdose.

Heroin is a problem in the all PNW cities. Blaming a tent city is a lot cheaper and faster than driving organized crime out of the ports tho'. :( Or, as I wrote below, the factors related to people self-medicating.

Yeah, I know, it just... makes me so angry that cheap and fast always trumps the right thing to do. -_-

I definitely understand the self-medicating aspect too. My mom self-medicated with different types of drugs for years and although that's not what killed her (pancreatic cancer did), I was always so worried about her ODing.

I'm sorry about your mother. My sister was similar, down to the surprise death by cancer. A damaged mother is an extremely hard thing for a child to deal with. I hope you take good care of yourself.
