The poor need jobs!

So start creating some then, asshole.

I love how, when evidence to the contrary is right there in front of them, conservatives believe that most people who are out of work because they want to be out of work.

Right? A Facebook friend today posted a big rant about Occupy Careerbuilder today and how apparently jobs are everywhere if you want them.

I want to know where he's looking....

lol

Half of the job listings on CareerBuilder are from companies who don't have any available positions. They just collect applications and resumes and pull a few from the pile when a position does become available. The problem is that there are NO openings. So you apply and then you wait and wait some more. Wait a little longer. No one ever calls.

Well maybe America should be like normal countries and tax EVERYBODY. I got taxed when I was on unemployment benefit (a lot of rich people don't realise that - yeah, Tax Dollars provide the benefit but some of it is recouped back with tax) and I'm taxed the same rate now that I earn what I consider pretty good money actually. If I were properly rich I would be taxed more. I got heavily subsidised - not free - medication and doctors' visits which I no longer get. Though it is still subsidised, just not as much. I paid as much for food and drink and power as rich people.

The thing is, the income tax they're talking about is only one of many taxes that Americans pay and the only one where anyone gets out of paying it. That's why this argument is so doubly infuriating. It's not even true that there are large amounts of Americans who don't pay any taxes. If you've got a job, you're paying medicare and social security taxes. If you buy anything in a store ever, you are paying sales tax. On my pay stub, there are about 8 lines of taxes (federal and local) that get deducted and only one of those is federal income tax.

... Some people ~beat the system~ but the majority are people who are obeying the system, are in need, and cannot survive otherwise. Actually, it's possible they're barely surviving as it is. I know the welfare system needs more reform, but Christ on a cracker, don't use these people as scapegoats so you can cry about having to pay taxes.

They should admire those people who rip the system off, since they are being ENTREPRENEURIAL.

Fact: criminals and entrepreneurs are often exactly the same personality type.

Try taking half of what I own and you'll get the ass end of a 97 Saturn and a $300 checking account balance. Christ. What world do these people live in?

Do they even understand there's little to take? They'll wind up with a lot of Lego and VHS tapes.
