From what I understand, the 6 inmates who were granted resentencing trials ended up getting the death penalty again. Buck's issue was a bit more complicated. The psychologist actually testified that he would not be a danger to society, but the prosecution had used his measurement scale (he created it) that supposedly indicated the risk a convicted felon would have on society against Buck anyway. The reason initially they didn't grant him a retrial was some b.s.s that the defense brought Quijano in (which they did), giving the prosecution the opportunity to introduce the racist measurement. They're probably granting him a retrial just to appear fair, but I'd still be a bit skeptical of the outcome. I'm in TX and have been following this case on Execution Watch (a community radio show that airs hours before and after scheduled state executions). That must be a serious mind fuck to be given a stay though. :/
