I'm annoyed times infinity that Wired chose to reveal private medical details which Manning shared in confidence in these chats.

I used to really like Wired, finding it one of the only decent things owned by Condé Nast, but this really sours me on the magazine for basically... forever. And I could have sworn that the mag has been responsible for some bullshit in the past, not to mention that the editor in chief used to do stuff for The Economist, which... lol.

LAMO: I'm a journalist and a minister. You can pick either, and treat this as a confession or an interview (never to be published) & enjoy a modicum of legal protection. [..] And Lamo's statement in my interview with him -- that Manning's "intention was to cripple the United States' foreign relations for the foreseeable future" -- also appears to be a complete fabrication; Manning talked endlessly about his desire to trigger worldwide reforms, not to cripple American foreign relations.

Jesus Christ, that poor kid. Lamo is a truly repellant human being. ((headdesk))

(03:39:30 PM) bradass87: i watch the whole thing unfold… from a distance

(03:40:07 PM) bradass87: i read what everyone says… look at pictures… keep tabs… and feel for them

(03:40:18 PM) bradass87: since im basically playing a vital role in their life

(03:40:29 PM) bradass87: without ever meeting them

(03:40:53 PM) bradass87: i was like that as an intelligence analyst as well

(03:41:09 PM) info@adrianlamo.com: i know the feeling, in a way.

(03:41:44 PM) bradass87: most didnt care… but i knew, i was playing a role in the lives of hundreds of people, without them knowing them… but i cared, and kept track of some of the details, make sure everybody was okay

How can anybody talk to someone sharing like that and be thinking all the while "mwahahaha, I will turn them in and DESTROY THEM MWAHHAHA"???? DD:

Ikr? You have to live in some other version of reality to think "I'm going to be good guy in all this" when turning in someone who wants to help the world.
