The story The Sun ran about their son originated from a member of the public whose family has also experienced cystic fibrosis.

Yeah, me too. I find it difficult to believe that many members of the public would have known about the diagnosis. Out of those few, we're then expected to believe that someone thought "oh hey, the country should hear about this asap!" whilst apparently never once giving thought to the family's right to privacy and sensitivity, despite supposedly having gone through the same experience?

Hmm. Hmm.

But they were doing for the greater good!!

The original story kicking about was that Rebekah Brooks phoned with news of the story before the Browns even knew of the diagnosis themselves. IDK if that is actually true, but it's so awful.

Yeah, wasn't it that the Browns knew, but it hadn't been 100% confirmed yet? Either way, it's appalling, literally jaw-dropping stuff. It's just malicious taunting, because there's no way that story wasn't going to get published once they had it.

Although I suppose Rebekah was really on holiday or something. Obviously the Grauniad hired someone to pretend to be her on the phone. They'll stop at nothing to undermine the good name of News International!!!

That was what I'd heard. Also, didn't Brooks et al spill the news on their daughter before she died? There's no bloody excuse for that.

Yeah, it was published the weekend before she died, I think. I can't believe that that part isn't being mentioned more, tbh. It's just as bad.

There's absolutely no excuse for that one. What did anyone have to gain from that other than causing even more distress to a couple in their darkest time? Ugh, I'm getting all worked up and ragey again!
