The Senate's top Republican said Tuesday that he did not see a way for Republicans and Democrats to come to agreement on meaningful deficit reduction as long as President Obama remains in office.
Actually, I think it's mostly that their tea-bagger, far rightwing conservative nutjob constituents don't like him, so they have to pay lip service to the far right fringe of their own base.
So, perhaps better to say that they're willing to screw over the entire country by deliberately wrecking the economy because they're afraid they'll lose their jobs in a primary from their right.
He sounds like he's already played out the entire thing with hand puppets.
"'And next-!' cried the weak and ineffective Mr. Obama, 'I would like to raise the debt ceiling 700 billion dollars!'" McConnell cleared his throat and brought out the strong, masculine Republican doll. "'700 billion dollars?' asked the studmuffin of a congressman. His voice then deepened. 'If this is going to happen, you're gonna play by our rules.'"
