@Sun_Politics tweet: NotW - RIP. A loss to 1st class journalism. Ed Miliband, Guardian and BBC; how proud you must be of your work this week.

And Ed, the Guardian & BBC (not to mention countless tweeters) replied "Yes, we are, thanks!"

I genuinely think this could be the beginning of the end for Murdoch in UK. His share prices are plummeting, the public sees him for what he is and there's no way he'll get the BSkyB take-over now, what with Miliband pushing for a Commons vote and the possibility of Ofcom stepping in to stop the take-over should Cameron push ahead. Oh, the skeletons that are going to fall out of the closet...this is like Xmas for me!

The fact that the Tories have been so quiet on this, Cameron included, is doing them no favours. His press conference was cringey to watch, especially his continued defence of Coulson. And where are the Lib Dems on this? Will Clegg take a few minutes to crawl out from under Cameron's desk to say a few words? I doubt it. He's looking even more gormless than Osborne these days.

Lib Dems are arguing against the tories to get a judge led inquiry. We've also been pushing for Murdoch not to get BSkyB ever since it was announced. I would point out that the Lib Dems have been the only party that's been consistently anti News Corps; both the tories and labour have been perfectly happy to cuddle up to Murdoch, indeed, a recent email to the Labour front bench has asked them to lay off Murdoch: http://www.newstatesman.com/blogs/dan-hodges/2011/02/phone-hacking-personal
