Ex-Toronto Mayor Hopeful pulls a Michelle Bachmann, spies on lesbians at Toronto Dyke March

Mallick: Hey Giorgio, no one likes a snitch
“See that man standing there, at 5 o’clock? Chunky guy, dark glasses, tight T-shirt, staring into his video camera? Over there on the sidewalk? DON’T LOOK! HE’LL SEE YOU! Just casually glance over there. Okay, see him now?”“
“Yeah. He’s filming the lesbians. It’s Saturday. It’s Dyke Parade.”
“Why would a middle-aged man be filming lesbians?”
“Must be an undercover cop.”
“I think they have female cops for that now, nerdlinger. Anyway, he doesn’t have cop neck musculature. Peeping Tom, definitely. I saw an old guy like that at SlutWalk.”
“We should call the cops.”
“Okay.”
Of course the man was neither a cop nor a Peeping Tom collecting souvenir lesbian pride footage that he could run on a loop on his basement computer while his mom’s asleep. He was Giorgio Mammoliti, army of one.
I notice Giorgio’s regular entourage falls away when he comes up with these Seal Team 6 ideas. He should take note of that. The York West city councillor was out by his lonesome filming the Dyke Parade in the hopes that some unruly lesbians, refusing to take orders from the organizers - because that’s kind of what lesbian pride is all about - were using WrongSpeak, i.e., the words “Israeli Apartheid.”

Apparently he found some, though the organizers, who had promised to keep any such marchers out, did not. “They were shouting and they were chanting and the slogans of ‘Israeli Apartheid’ were all there. I got it all on tape,” Mammoliti told the Star with satisfaction.
Mammoliti and his ally Doug Ford, brother of the mayor who refused to appear at this glorious parade despite the millions of dollars it brings to the city, wants to haul back the money already promised to parade organizers and pull all future city money out, bankrupting the thing because it got “political.”
I hate this. It’s the kind of thing Fox News uses to goad damaged people. “There’s a war on Christmas: you have to say Happy Holidays now, I’m choking on the words, I am personally offended,” says perennial offence-taker Bill O’Reilly. “A gay float in the New York St. Patrick’s Day Parade? We can’t have gays, we barely have room for 41,352 non-Irish college students vomiting greenly in the gutter, a puddle of absinthe juleps and bad judgment.” Although odds are some of them are gay or sliding into realization.
But this is Canada. We have room for everybody and space for everyone to air their free speech. Even if the organizers gave in and swore up and down that they’d tell people not to say “I.A.,” you just knew someone was going to make trouble. After millennia of being slaughtered, scorned and sidelined, of course gays are going to say “I.A.” for the sheer hell of it.
Are you going to punish the whole graduating class because one element made a ruckus at prom night?
This is why young people don’t vote. They see doughnuts like Mammoliti with his silly lesbian-stalking camera and think, “This is politics? Not my world.”
Whereas I look at this absurd man and think he is the worst thing anyone can be, and it’s a kindergarten word. But since the theme of this column is adult juvenile delinquency, I’ll say it. He’s a snitch.
He’s the kind of person who thinks you don’t deserve your disabled sticker because you still have both your legs, and calls the city hotline because your intense pain is not visible to him.
He’s the kind of man who tells you your boss is meeting your wife in ho-tels because he personally always dreamed of cheating but found no takers.
We are not a small town in Texas ticketing citizens for failing to open-carry, hey you’re on film. This is Toronto. A city that relies on politician-snitches is not my kind of city.

So tell Mammoliti to stow away his video camera and stop creeping women out. Lighten up, everybody. It was a great parade, the money rolled in, much pride was had, everyone’s happy.

Thoughts: This is just beyond creepy, just for him to be going around taking photos, for the purpose of cutting funding for Toronto Pride. I mean, Pride is a huge draw for tourism, and business. To cut the funding is not just hypocritical, it's also going to bankrupt it and destroy business.

In addition, there were quite a lot of political messages going on in the pride, from an Iran contingent proclaiming freedom, to an Israel contingent to a Palestine contingent, PLUS a bunch of contingents from diffferent political parties in Canada. So, to cut funding now for from Pride, for being too 'poltiical' is extremely hypocritical. Obviously, Mammoliti only considers the messages that oppose his view to be ''political''.
But I'm not surprised, because this is the guy that is a) favour of giving law enforcement officers guns and the power to arrest peope...for graffiti and putting up illegal posters. b) claimed basketball nets attract troubled youth and drug dealers and c) thinks the army should be used to fight crime in Toronto.
