While the author has a point about the way rape victims are treated in the US, the lede is really, really, really bothering me.

(While no doubt there are women stoned to death because they were raped, the generalization that it applies to ALL islamic women bothers me)

Yeah...there's definitely some islamophobia.

idk maybe its how i'm reading it but the man talking seemed to be hitting on her more than saying she was able to celebrate her sexuality..

If an Islamic woman is raped, she is stoned to death for enticing the man into a sexual frenzy and her family gets to throw the first stones.

Stopped reading this article after this fuckin' sentence.

So, okay:

1) 'Islamic woman' - Um, how about no. Try 'MUSLIM woman' instead.
2) Wtfff, why does everyone assume that just because one predominantly Muslim country does it, EVERY Muslim country does it too? Has no one heard about culture? Culture ≠ religion. Yes, religion can influence culture but seriously, these two are usually different things.

Yeah, not reading this BS anymore.

It amazes me that there's a critique of American rape culture packed into this inaccurate offensive tirade against Muslims. WRONG APPROACH.

I couldn't read the whole thing without going into a rage, but I did get as far as Don’t disrobe in front of a male masseur. If you take a job as a masseuse, don’t be shocked if your male customers think you’re a prostitute.

It's massage therapist, you jerkwad, and actual MTs are highly trained professionals who strongly, vehemently dislike being thought of and treated as prostitutes. My MT roommate would like to have a few kind words with you...probably punctuated by that Crazy Vulcan Nerve Pinch thing she can so so well.

Also, I shouldn't trust my male friends? At all?

Wow. I can even.

And I bet he'd be one of those guys who'd get all uppity about how he's nice really when women actually come out and say they don't trust any men.

The racist drivel in the first par nullified anything resembling a positive argument in this piece for me.
