Troopergate is all about getting even, not justice
DAN FAGAN

The reason Gov. Palin has abandoned her truth and transparent, open and honest aura with her foolish and obvious coverup and trail of lies is simple. Troopergate is not about trying to get her ex-brother-in-law, trooper ( Read more... )

So, aside from the lack of fact sources in the story, and ignoring the obvious spin I have a few questions:

1) The Governor had a responsibility for the troopers that worked for her, correct?

2) The Governor had personal knowledge of, and documented occurrences tracking actions that were illegal and/or termination worthy, correct?

3) The Governor was aware that the injury claim was not honest/correct as the "injured" was documented undertaking activities that he should not have been able to in his "injured" state, correct?

I could go on and on. Like how the subpoenas were not legal, how the "independent" investigation seems to have become a partisan witch hunt, etc.

If Sarah Palin was a Democrat this issue would not even have received 24 hours of press time. The Clinton's stole hundreds of FBI files illegally and used them for "pressure" while they were in office - the MSM could not have cared less. This story is being given constant press because it is the only chance that the Democrats in the press have of attacking their Republican enemy.

Had Gov. Palin had put pressure on her political opponents, or tried to fire a trooper that was undeserving due to the trooper causing Gov. Palin difficulty in the normal procedure of doing his/her job I would be upset about this "troopergate" issue.

I get upset when Republicans do it, just as I get upset when Democrats do it. But honestly one party has a greater tendency to use the power of their office to silence and harass people, the Democrats.

It was not the Republicans that threatened a group with investigation by the FBI and stated that said group would lose its tax exempt status simply for inviting a member of the other party to come speak.

Being an Independent I am sad to see what passes for "discussion" or "debate" online and off. Too many people are poorly educated and seem to be unable to see they are being herded by the MSM. Just because someone seems to be on your side, it does not mean they have the facts or are presenting honest information/commentary.

Independents like myself read all the facts, not the spin, and see that the Governor may have overstepped her bounds in a few areas, but it was not in trying to get the child abusing, drinking on the job, breaking regulations, disgrace of a trooper fired. Much less taking action when said person makes death threats about her father. Or when same person is trying to rip off the Alaskan Government with a fraudulent "injury" claim.

First off, what is "MSM"? Secondly, I think there are way more things to attack Palin on than just this investigation - her lie about the Bridge to Nowhere, her backwards stance on women's issues (she's anti-choice and made rape victims pay for rape kits in her hometown), the fact she doesn't believe in evolution, the fact she has zero foreign policy experience... trust me, there's plenty besides Troopergate.

I'm involved in a worker's comp case myself, and I can say with confidence that Gov. Schwarzenegger isn't personally overseeing my case, nor would he be if I worked for the state. And if I were a family member he had a dispute with, he wouldn't be foolish enough to get involved. I don't even like him, but I think he's professional enough not to want to open himself up to the ensuing controversy.

Worker's comp cases are between the Human Resources department, the insurance company representing the employer, and any lawyers involved. If the case is denied and the injured worker appeals, then the State Board of Worker's Comp appeals comes into it. But it's really small potatoes for a governor, because there are so many levels of administration between the governor and the injured worker. A governor doesn't personally oversee worker's comp cases. That's why it's odd for Palin to have taken a personal interest in one of the thousands of cases involving state employees--the employer's insurance company heavily questions practically every case, so she couldn't possibly have time to look into all of them. The reason why it was improper for her to become involved even if she knew Wooten was faking it is the same reason that it would be improper for her to try to help a family member in the same position---conflict of interests.
