Grenades aren't that effective against zombies. The just tear up their limbs and then their all wobbly and bleedy. Its just a hassle to do follow up when you can simply use a hole, some fire, and an air horn.

Lots of zombies staggering around = dangerous.
Lots of zombies missing limbs, therefore crawling around? Not nearly as much of a threat. Much easier to get away from 'em, or better yet pick them off one by one. Me? I like to apply a crowbar to the skull when that happens.
