My thoughts exactly. Since when does he (or any of his ilk for that matter) give a fuck about poor, single moms who can't get a job, and whose government assistance and healthcare he's trying to take away? ETA: Or even poor married moms?

In fairness there, Huckabee helped create ArKids First, the low-income child coverage program for those between medicaid and private insurance.

There is a LOT I hate about the man, but he does try to walk the walk on his pro-life thing. He supported medicaid, WIC, ArkKids first and head start during his term as governor. He may have quit doing that since.

I have no idea whether he has quit or not. But for me, the fact is he is aligned with a party whose entire m.o. is not giving a fuck about anyone who isn't a rich cis straight white Christian man. The smell of that is on him.

Maybe it's because there are no good paying jobs in Arkansas, and the per capita income is $22,750 and we have a 16.8% poverty rate. Maybe the girls see nothing to lose by having a baby here. The out-of-wedlock birth rate in your nice, Christian state is 35.1%
