Elderly NHS patients' harrowing plight revealed in report

The NHS is inflicting pain and suffering on elderly patients and ignoring their most basic needs, according to a report by the health service ombudsman which highlights cases where vulnerable patients were failed.

Some patients were not offered help with eating or bathing, and one was left in urine-soaked clothes held together with paper clips.

So so not surprised by this.

When my grandad was dying of cancer in hospital he had awful treatment, in fact, he was put on the wrong ward, and the nurses and doctors there didn't even know he had cancer, never mind he was only expected to last a month!(he lasted 3 weeks)

With a report published which shows that NHS is failing to care for the elderly with dignity and respect, the NHS has hit back saying that if old people know what’s good for them, they should learn to keep their saggy old mouths shut.

A former NHS enforcer told us, “Look, no-one likes a grass, and if they think this is going to help them then they’ve got another think coming.”

Mrs N's case does not surprise me and is not isolated to just the elderly. I was in a Midlands hospital last year for an emergency gallbladder removal op - I already suffer from chronic and severe pain as a result of other conditions that merits long-term opiate use ( ... )
