Facts have a liberal bias.

That reminds me - I was once debating with an far-right winger and literally every time I cited a fact that gave his claims less merit he would freak out and claim that everything I was saying was a lie made up by the liberals. It was the most frustrating experience of my life.

This is what my father does whenever we debate politics. ALL THE FREAKING TIME.

Then he jokes that I'll change my mind once I start paying taxes, ha ha. >.

Paying taxes has yet to turn me into a neocon.

I guess my parents don't pay taxes, and neither does Bill Gates.

But that's what they are taught. When presented with truth, just call it a lie.

Once you believe a lie so much it becomes someone's truth. Fighting with an indoctrinated right wing conservative is like fighting with a rabid dog. There isn't a point...they're going to stay in that condition until they die.

Having a bad opinion isn't like having rabies

I think some people can change their POV, not many, but enough, otherwise what hope is there for the future?

Ugh my mother does that. She'll say something absurdly racist/classist and I'll say "actually according to X and Y studies, that's not true. This is true." And of course studies are slanted toward the left, academics are leftist!

"...So... if anyone qualified to say anything on the subject has a bias you don't like, where do you get your info from?"

Blah blah, it's not just academics in that field who've done who are qualified, everyone just knows! She's seen it with her own two eyes!

LOL this is my family, always, over EVERYTHING.

My grandma doesn't believe in the Spanish Inquisition. Like, she literally told me that it's just a "protestant lie from Martin Luther King [sic]".

She also believes in literal death panels for "everyone over 60" starting in 2014.

Like, WTF do you even say to that?
