Very insightful article. I'm not really optimistic about the future of the US. The rich will keep getting richer and the poor will keep getting poorer. Something really drastic will have to happen for the country to change. I mean, look at all the Republicans have done and are doing and nothing's happening.

That's because everything they are doing is making the problems worse. They got voted in because the Dems weren't working on jobs enough. But they immediately decided their reason for being was to cut spending, so they wouldn't have to increase taxes. WRONG ANSWER!

That is an extremely good determination to have. I'm trying not to get mired in the negativity for too long, even as the history buff in me is growing increasingly alarmed in that "Haven't I seen you somewhere before 1898 to 1920?" sort of way. I'm trying to tend my own garden as much as possible, build community, extend myself to my neighbors and so on. I can't help what happens with such large forces beyond my control, so I have begun to look around me and say "Well then, what CAN I control? I should get right on that.."

I decided to get as involved as possible on my local level, and also to be more vocal on the state/national level as well. If we don't speak up, well....

I'm getting the hell out of this country. IDC that I spent 8 years in the military, IDC how much I USED to think things would change, IDC about any of it anymore. I'm fucking done. I'm done being a second-class citizen, I'm done being continually punished because I'm not wealthy (no health care, declining credit score, no jobs at all on the fucking horizon), I'm just done. This country's become a goddamn joke.
