I saw this thing on MSNBC about this... girls are kidnapped right off the streets in American neighborhoods, drugged/tied/beaten, taken to other states and prostituted, and when the parents report their teenage daughter missing, the police are like "she probably just ran away" and refuse to do anything about it.

This one guy in Toledo, OH tracked his kidnapped daughter down to a pimp's house, and called the police, and when the police took forever to show up, he finally went and tried to rescue his daughter himself. He got beaten up, his daughter escaped, and the police initially charged the dad with trespassing (later dropped).
