Cuba banned Michael Moore's 2007 documentary, Sicko, because it painted such a "mythically" favourable picture of Cuba's healthcare system that the authorities feared it could lead to a "popular backlash", according to US diplomats in Havana.

That's so interesting that they did that. Usually communist countries depict mythical things in their news as propaganda. I guess Cuba is no longer communist. And btw a lot of countries' governments can say they're socialist, but I don't even know anymore.

And I approve so much, btw. If it doesn't fit with what they actually have, it shouldn't be depicted that way.

Although the more controversy surrounds the film, the more money Moore makes. JS

It's not that they're not communist*, it's that people can tell that tourists and high-ranking government officials get better things than they do-- which I'm guessing is what Moore showed rather than the average person's hospital (I have not seen Sicko). And, yeah, it pisses a lot of them off (granted most people I hear about Cuba are from my family and the exile community, so obvious bias).

*Well, they still claim to be communist but the obvious differences between who gets what pretty much proves it's not functionally socialist.
