Eagles quarterback Michael Vick, who spent time in prison for his involvement in dog fighting, said Tuesday having a dog as a pet would help in his rehabilitation

I'm kind of inclined to agree. If he's really willing, REALLY WILLING, to work toward changing his ways and views on animal treatment, then maybe it would help for him to have a pet so he can see it more as a friend and partner than a tool for violence.

That said, I'd only agree to it if there were some way to keep track of the dog's health.

I agree with this - It would help him to learn about compassion towards animals, but he should have an "animal social worker" checking in every week or so.
