At 1.5 metres (5ft), Naz Humphreys has the essential requirement to be a hobbit extra, but the British Pakistani has been told she's not white enough.

"It's 2010 and I still can't believe I'm being discriminated against because I have brown skin," Ms Humphreys said.

I think the Harfoots lived much more southwesterly than the Shire, around Bree and the dwarven settlements. Most of the ones who lived in Hobbiton were Fallohides or Stoors, so lighter in colouring.

All I have to say is, I bet the same people screaming, "PC gone mad!" and "They're white, get over it!!" would be the same ones screaming the people mad at all the leads in TLA being cast as white were just being too sensitive.

Being New Zealand, I have to say that "PC gone mad!" is the default knee jerk reaction any time anyone mentions any -isms ever. Ever.
