The origin stories of the kipferl - the ancestor of the croissant - say that it IS based on the Muslim crescent, to commemorate a victory over the Turks. I mean, there's almost no historical evidence for that story so it's probably not true, but it is a very popular folk story so you posting a croissant for Every Crescent Is Muslim makes me giggle.
