I'm surprised baking is considered manly. I thought that's only the case with grilling. Though I kinda feel the same about the Old Spice commercials as I do towards wrestling, it's just too silly to be taken seriously.

Yeah, baking would not be my top choice as a "manly" skill.

Squishing spiders, now that would be a manly skill.

I bake and have a pet spider... this probably means I'm negative manly. D:

Nobody seems to like spiders. It makes me sad.

I love spiders. I never squish them.

A Devil's coach horse (a beetle that looks kinda like an earwig, only about 3cm long and bitey).

Sorry ^^;

It is definitely not considered manly according to the 1950's "Carolina Cooking" cookbook my friend found at a recent library sale.

Grilling, as you pointed out, is.

I think they added in traditional 'girly' things to manhood things like cooking - in order to show you can support your lady and dine her to the extreme with your own talents and not relying on anyone else to cook for you - to show how extreme the satire is.

I like it.

I want them to add in cleaning and pampering your lady to the list as well. Oooh and treating your lady like a Queen. ;d

I read it not so much as 'being manly' as 'doing something a woman would enjoy'. Kinda like that "it's an oyster with two tickets to that THING you love".

On a sidenote, baking cheesecakes has *totally* gotten me women sitting in my lap.

With the "two tickets to that thing you love!" and all it seems to recommend you become "manly" in the sense of "irresistible to women" by... actually doing stuff for your lady that's productive and pleasant for her. So I think that's pretty boss. It still relies on the whole hypermasculine DO EVERYTHING YOURSELF, A REAL MAN CAN BUILD A LOG CABIN WITH HIS TELEKINESIS... BUT HE BUILDS IT WITH HIS HANDS JUST TO PROVE HE CAN but it's a little less grating. Like, if you want to be loved, actually be lovable.
