Yes this is a sports article but it plays up the politics angle of ontd_political because of how much freaking money (at least a quarter billion) we are talking about that is in dispute and also the fact that Texas (the state) is threatening to make a law that will make it illegal for Texas (UT) to leave its current conference without taking it's ( Read more... )

it is in Texas' best interest to have our three super football teams to continue to play against each other.

I agree, OP. Those games generate a shitload of money.

I know nothing about the politics of football, but I do think it would be cool to see the Texas teams get to play against Colorado and Arizona.

Eurgh, all of this makes me queasy - because my school (KU) has been thus far left out of the expansion talks, and if we get stuck with the red-headed stepchildren that nobody wants (K-State, Iowa State, Baylor, etc.), that will really fuck us over.

WE INVENTED BASKETBALL HERE. I know most of the money is in football, BUT STILL.

Big 12 teams that aren't OU, UT (maybe OSU/TT) are totally screwed basically. NU might be okay because we travel incredibly well even in the regular season
