Mark Sanford Admits He’s Back With Maria Belen Chapur
After getting spotted by Gawker Stalkers vacationing in the Florida Keys with Argentine mistress Maria Belen Chapur, South Carolina governor Mark Sanford has admitted they were together and that they are giving their relationship a go since his wife divorced him in March. Happy endings for everyone! Today, at a press conference for something boring and legislative, he admitted what we all wanted to know: As a matter of record, everybody in this room knows exactly who I was with over the weekend. That is no mystery to anybody given what I said last summer. And, you know, the purpose was obviously to see if something could be restarted on that front given the rather enormous geographic gulf between us. And time will tell. I don’t know if it will or won’t.
If those aren’t the lyrics to a Michael McDonald love song, we don’t know what is. “But this obsession with one’s personal life at some point has got to end,” he added. Oh does it?
