People in politics should really know better than to lie. They'll get busted eventually.

What really gets me is just that this is a fucking stupid thing to lie about. Just so very stupid.

I KNOW. It seems like pathological liars always get caught out on the stupidest shit though so maybe that's his issue.

I mean REALLY. Did he think no one was going to check his military records? That they were just gonna take his word for it???!?!!

Yeah, it's weird when you think about it. Like, why lie about it at all? I realize that Dems do sometimes get more shit than Republicans about their service record(or lack thereof) during the Vietnam era but really, why risk lying about it? It is just incredibly dumb. How could someone is who is fairly successful still manage to be be so stupid about something so fundamental? If you are going to run for US Senate, the media and (tons of others) are going to inspect every last detail of your life!

I think a lot of politicians -- especially those who didn't grow up with the internet -- forget just how easy it is to fact-check things. They don't remember that people can use Google.

Well uh... at least he's campaigning? He's still got that on Coakley.

This is disappointing, though.

The problem is, he shouldn't be campaigning.

lmao. But even then, Coakley had something of an excuse for losing a safe seat, she was running against someone who had won before in the state. And who had posed naked. Blumenthal is running against a Ron Paul guy, the co-founder of the WWE, and a back-bencher who got swept out a while back. No excuse.

Haha well the second any of the Repubs pull out either their Cosmo centerfolds or their trucks, the panic can begin. Although with Linda McMahon I would imagine it would be more of a: I'm Linda McMahon, and this is my MONSTER TRUUUUUUCK.
