This guy makes me insanely happy.

What do you mean, bb? Are you a Baptist or belong to another Christian denomination?

Trufax: how people interpret the Bible is what's really, really scary. It's what's deterred me from reading it because my interpretations might be off or something.

I am a Baptist.

Also, normal people cannot possibly interpret the bible wrong. I've been reading, and it's pretty straightforward.

At least to me, it is. I've been reading Proverbs as part of a study and so far, it's pretty straightforward with Love, Kindness, Wisdom, no adultery, all those good things.

Proverbs is full of good stuff but unfortunately that's not exactly the part of the bible the crazies are reading.

Idk, I'm a bible noob too but I do remember my mom always reading Proverbs and it's full of positive stuff.

The letters of Paul (women shouldn't talk in church, etc) and the Mosaic law (no poly-cotton blends, no masturbation, etc) are both extremely controversial.

God, don't get me started on Paul. Paul is that guy who had a bad experience with a girl when he was nineteen and spent the rest of his life writing "WOMEN SUCK" on tables whenever he got hammered.

Academia takes the meaning out of it and twists.
And twists again.
and twists until it suits the studies.
