Moran said the officers targeted his father's church because the congregation is mostly illegal immigrants from Guatemala.

source : some Houston news site

and from the photos I'll guess that Omar Moran isn't Irish

I hope he's okay.. it sounds horrible :(

Fuck 'public servant.' Pigs are government servants, they do nothing for the public unless the government OKs it. Those pigs need to be fired and made to get real jobs.

Yeah, because absolutely no law enforcement is a great idea. :/

The cops are not great (I don't trust them), but no cops at all is a terrible, terrible idea. What needs to happen is that the cops who abuse their power be held accountable, not shielded by other cops.

And all of this could have been avoided if Moran had just let the officer do his job. WTF was he thinking to approach an officer when they are in the middle of a traffic stop? You're just asking for trouble. Let alone actually touching the officer.. you get what you have coming in my opinion.

And the more research I've done on this, I think ICE needs to check into that church. If they already haven't.

This is all sorts of fishy. officers don't need "help" with traffic stops.

Only it was in the church parking lot of a church that has a large immigrant population. There were a lot of reasons he could have gone out there, from making sure the cops didn't hurt the people they stopped to offering to translate, and definite reason if the cops have been bothering people there before.

But then, I don't trust the cops worth a sweet goddamn and would hope there was someone else there watching if I was pulled over.

There's no evidence that this occured. However if it did, the policeman *should* get a translator

I think it's probably one of those situations where nobody is wholly right or wrong.

I *don't* think the pastor should have been tasered, since he was obviously no longer interfering once he went into the church.

first thing I thought: GET A BRAIN, MORANS
second thing I thought: "I read this on chron.com and deliberately disabled comments"
