Another day at the White House, another chance for President Obama to make history for people with disabilities. And, he did just that. 
  On Friday, June 26, 2009, President Barack Obama became one of the very few sitting American Presidents to personally greet and welcome persons who are deaf-blind to the White House Oval Office.

his blunders make me soooo angry but then he goes and does something like this and it makes me misty eyed. damn you obama! will you be a regular president so i can love or hate you and move on with my political addiction? hahahhaa

Awww Helen Keller. In year two, we did this project on her at the beginning of the term, and I loved her so much that in term two when we were making these paper dogs and making stories about them, I called mine Helen Keller, the dog who carried her bowl on her head when she left home. It took me ages, too-I remember having to sit outside the classroom with the mother helper watching me slowly write the story down.

This visit was not and should not be viewed as a sympathetic thing for the President to do. Rather, it reflects this President’s commitment to, and understanding of, the desire for all people with disabilities to be fully integrated into society. These young adults are proof that if provided with the necessary supports and services, people with disabilities can and will achieve anything they desire
