lawlz, wtf? Speaking as someone who went to school in Hennepin County up until my last few years of HS, I never once heard from a teacher that homosexuality was abnormal. Not in private school or public school. It may have been a rule, but it definitely wasn't enforced.

Well they weren't forced to teach that it was abnormal. Just not allowed to say anything to the contrary.

Yeah but we learned about ~coming out~ and stuff in health class, or various GLBT people in art class (y halothar Georgia O'Keefe and Frida Kahlo) and they never said it was a bad thing.

I'm familiar with Georgia O'Keefe's work but not her personal life. I Googled lightly, but I don't have time to really read anything in depth. Care to enlighten me?

I was taught at schools in Ramsey County all my life, except for college. We had one of the most homophobic groups of students and a few of the faculty were as well. One of my friends who went there with me is gay and one of our teachers called his family to basically "out" him and to tell his family of the "unsavory" company he was keeping. I called him out about it at school, and told him he was a fucking asshole to his face and got suspended, but it was worth it.

Way to go Minnesota! :)
After seeing all the stupid bigoted stories about the GLBTQ, this makes me happy inside. Just a little.
