Glenn Thrush says the question from the Senate floor this evening was "where was Cornyn," as the Texas Republican was the only senator to miss the crucial cloture vote on the stimulus package.
The answer: He was at a New York gathering of prominent media conservatives and Wall Street Republican donors called the Monday Meeting, held at the Grand ( Read more... )

Obligatory agreement on all counts.

Man, if I were Rick Noriega I'd be standing on street corners screaming 'I told you so' to everyone who walked past.

Incidentally, what IS Rick Noriega up to these days? I'm convinced Obama will appoint him to something what with him being 1)Hispanic 2) A Vet 3)From a state that might become a battleground soon and 4) a really, really great way to make Big John's head explode.

*small voice*

Sometimes, I torture myself by imaging how awesome it would have been if Obama named him to head up Homeland Security.

He kicked so much ass organizing evacuation and aid dispursement during Katrina/Rita/Ike and he's one of the big kahunas in the Lege on immigration reform.

If he'd been named we'd get to piss of Cornyn and Napolitano would still be in Arizona preparing to kick McCain's ass in 2010.

Sigh.

What's it like not being a total freak who enjoys elaborate Walter Mitty-esque fantasies about the presidential cabinet?

Yeah, I don't know the players in the soap opera enough to do all the scenarios so I'll just have to live vicariously through your what if's!

From Noriega's website:
I am proud to announce that I have become the Vice-president of Community Initiatives at Neighborhood Centers, Inc. (NCI). NCI includes Ripley House, Head Start programs, senior programs, charter schools and more. It is a $ 200 million operation, caring for Houston's seniors, youngsters and needy, giving folks a hand up, not a hand out.

Awwww!

That sounds like such a great fit for him.

Here's hoping he continues to do good work and tries again on the national stage sometime down the line.

I'm not ashamed to be from Texas. I didn't vote for the jackass so why should I apologize for something stupid he did?

IA. And if there were fewer idiots like him plaguing our great state (no sarcasm, Texas is the shit), I wouldn't be so conflicted about moving back in May.
