Not unless they intend on reading rebuttals to rebuttals, which might be asking a bit much of someone with a day job.

Yeah, we should just stop reading when we find someone who agrees with us. Give ourselves a nice pat on the back, stretch lazily, then go watch some teevee.

Well you shouldn't, it's your job not to.

Other people might want to consider the two arguments, draw some conclusions (one of which might be to read more) and then move on to the next task at hand.

I also tend to consider the writer's track record. Krugman predicted the current crisis when that was hardly a fashionable stand. (I won't mention his Nobel Prize as that was for work done some time ago.)

Krugman's managed to predict 150 of the past 5 crises. Quite the track record.
