I don't know much about this man, but I think, I think, this will be a case of foot-in-mouth syndrome. With the severity of what has been happening there, the joke/compliment didn't have the effect he meant for it to have. I think his intention was to remark on how beautiful the women of his country are. However, it came out sounding like because the women are beautiful, that is why they are getting raped. Maybe he'll think twice about trying to make a joke when the issue at hand doesn't need humor. I'll try to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Then again, maybe he really is just a big dumbass d-bag? Can we get a confirmation or denial on this?

I'd go with d-bag. He said a German member of the European Parliament would be a perfect Nazi camp guard because said member questioned Berlusconi's well-known influence on the Italian media.

That's all I can think to say. So tasteless.

Oh, he's a douchebag. I'd actually go so far as to say this is one of the more mildly offensive things he's said down through the years.

Berlusconi says he was complimenting women.

Oh yeah, because rape is a compliment. *urge to kill rising*

You know, every time I hear something this Berlusconi does or says, I feel kind of glad that other countries know what it's like to have a profoundly embarrassing leader. I mean, not that I'd wish it on a country, but it's comforting in that "misery loves company" sort of way.

Except, you know, we no longer have an embarrassing president. XD

*grins* Must be nice to know that pretty much all other countries envy you for your leader. Really, people like Berlusconi make me appreciate my Chancellor more - I don't agree with her politics, but at least she doesn't do stuff like this.

AHAHAHA THE ICON.
I looked at it and thought "wait... I'm pretty sure that there's no US state with the shape of Germany."
