Limbaugh against stimulus because its success could hurt GOP’s electoral chances.

Jan 26, 2009 01:17

On Friday, when President Obama met with congressional leaders from both parties to discuss his economic recovery and reinvestment program, he told GOP leaders, “You can’t just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done.” Asked for a response by National Review yesterday, Limbaugh said that Obama’s “plan is to isolate elected Republicans from ( Read more... )

He added that passage of the stimulus bill would hurt Republicans electorally.

Your agenda is showing, Rushie. To hell with the good of the nation as long as the right wing nuts get their power back.

Obama’s plan would buy votes for the Democrat Party...

Why does that sound familiar? Oh yeah, Bush's stimulus checks.

It would burden the private sector and put the public sector in permanent and firm control of the economy.

WAAH no capital gains WAAH my corporation's offshore tax haven WAAAH!

...because anyone with a brain knows this is NOT how you stimulate the economy.

And this is why people shouldn't discuss matters they have no experience in dealing with. (Brains, I mean, in his case.)

“Creating 600,000 new jobs might help cement Virginia in the Democrat column, making it harder for Republicans to retake the White House,” said Blackwell.

Ya think? So... getting 600,000 people off the dole is evil if it doesn't benefit the right. Thanks for clarifying that (again).

Perhaps I don't get it, but OH NOEZ! THE PUBLIKZ IZ TRYINZ TO TAKE BAAK THUR CUNTRYZ!

Seriously, the disconnect would happen if the public didn't want some sort of stimulus and the elected officials signed off on it in the first place. However, if your public is begging you for something, as their elected civil servant, aren't you supposed to be considering what your constituents want? Granted, maybe we're all really stupid and they know what is best. Somehow, I really doubt that. Perhaps this package isn't the right one, but we need to do something instead of resting on our laurels. Shouldn't Limbaugh be more worried about getting our country out of this mess whoever is President, or would he really rather screw us further into the hole so that Democrats get a bad name?

Oh, and he BETTA not be knocking FDR. I will cut a bitch! I wish Obama could hold a seance with FDR and get his advice on all this, for real!

lol, and that is all the right have been doing these days. They are the party of zero new ideas and only have random snark left.

This OP is also a great example of why the right has failed, everything is aimed towards gaining more power for powers sake rather than doing what will really benefit people.

Rush, do you REALLY want to piss off a bunch of Democrats and liberals? Because baiting us with your bullshit is the PERFECT way to do it.

We did grow a pair. We named them Barack and Joe and as far as I can tell right now, the Republicans are pretty scared.

Has it never occurred to Rush (and other, similarly entrenched Republicans) that obstructing the Dems doesn't actually help the Republicans? If he wants to Republican party to succeed and perhaps take back some seats in Congress, then why not push them to offer their own proposals for consideration? Finding fault with the other team's idea is fine, but it doesn't help us to accomplish anything if you have nothing else to contribute.
