I stopped listening to talk radio after discovering right wing blogs. Of course, it didn't help that the most popular shows came on during class or afterschool activities. I think the internet killed talk radio more than anything else.

internet killed talk radio

Is talk radio really dead, though? Limbaugh and Hannity and O'Reilly are still pretty popular and listened to by a lot of people.

Talk radio will never die. It might get less popular, but as long as cars need to be driven and houses need to be cleaned, talk radio will have an audience.

It did not kill ratings. The internet killed some of radio's ability to influence the Right.

Right, plus I think it also affected their ability to recruit new people. Limbaugh and the like have big fanbases, but not enough people listen to talk radio so new people are less likely to be convinced. Plus there's the whole Internet thing. Republicans haven't been as good at utilizing the interwebs, which leads to Republican losses in lots of demographics (youth, minorities and so on.)

Blogging killed radio's power to influence new audiences and also killed the leadership of right wing opinion.
