I LOVE LOVE LOVE this column. The Christian Right have called her every name in the book. She and David Brooks should get married.
The ONLY thing I don't like about Parker (outside of the fact that she is a conservatice and I am not) is that she did a total 180 in like 6 months. Her earlier columns were so delusional, much like Kristols.
Some say she is trying to deflet from the Republican party because they are losing. But I think this is a woman who finally came to her senses. She saw the way the right completely highjacked not only John McCain, but the entire party. How their bullying and brow-beating cost a lot of moderate republicans their senate and house seats.
If they continue to insist on only pro-life, pro-gun, pro-free market candidates ONLY can run, they will continue to lose.
I believe that Bush gave a lot of money to churches of all denominations when he first took office. That's probably why even the Catholic Church is leaning GOP.
The choir has become absurdly off-key, and many Republicans know it.
But they need those votes!
Well, then, maybe the GOP should start working on their policies and making them more attractive to voters, instead of going after the vote on wedge issues. Oh, wait, that would mean having to spend more time on actually making an administration work, instead of putting all the time and effort into elections.
I've said it before and I'm sure I'll say it again: the GOP sure can't run a country, but they're damn good at running elections. At least, they were. Now what?
