Charles is a registered Democrat in Uniontown, Pennsylvania.

"If it wasn't for Obama I would vote Democrat. Blacks just cause trouble, that's the taste I've got in my mouth."

Race is the question mark hanging over this election.

Barack Obama is ahead in the polls. There's a widespread feeling now that the election is his to lose.

Unfortunately, I don't think anyone will be honest with you or even knows. I think that's why getting younger voters out is going to be so important. Most people under the age of 40, and definitely under the age of 30, haven't been raised with racial segregation and division, at least in mainstream American Society. Maybe so in the rural areas, simply because things change slower there.

I don't think people are honest and upfront about it, so it may be impossible to tell.

Well, I'm glad I have an education guys.

I don't care if that was harsh.

And I know racism and lack of education don't always go hand-in-hand, but yeah, I'm glad I know better. Racism is one of the sickest diseases I've seen.

No, I don't think it's harsh. Part of college is going away from home and dealing with the world, your opinions, and hopefully your laundry on your own. In the racism I've experienced, it almost seems to be passed down by word of mouth, from parent to child, without any real face to face contact that would back it up.

So it's almost like believing in the tooth fairy, or mother goose. It's not evil, persay, it's just... childish.

this is what my dad is worried about in this election--that people say they're going to vote for obama, but in actuality they won't vote fora black man. i told him that was silly, but i guess i was mistaken :(

You'll notice that all the racists in this story had no shame.

The Bradley Effect has absolutely nothing to do with how many racists won't vote for someone because he's black - it has everything to do with how many racists are TOO ASHAMED to say that they won't vote for a black man.

And the great thing about the McCain campaign is that it's encouraged these racists to have NO SHAME.

"MARK CRISPIN MILLER: The Bradley Effect is a theory which holds that African American candidates do better in pre-election polls than they do in elections, because white racists are shy about admitting to pollsters that they wouldn’t vote for a black man. So they will tell pollsters, “Sure, I’ll vote for him.” Then they sneak into the polling booth and listen to the inner Klansman, you know, they vote as racists ( ... )
